Licenses such as MC License, DOT Number, UCR, and SCAC plays an integral role in the activities of transportation organizations. So, to make things right, we offer these services for freight trucking companies all over the USA.
MC License
The MC License (Motor Carrier License) is the license needed for trucking companies transporting goods or people within the United States or across borders. The licensing application procedure to get an MC License is through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
MC License is required for any transportation business in the United States, whether it is a freight forwarder or a human service provider. This is a legal obligation under the laws and federal statutes that govern highway traffic safety in the U.S.
Prior to receiving an MC License, a business must complete the FMCSA enrollment process. That process involves incorporating the entity, as well as submitting financial status and owner records of the entity. In addition, the business has to pass the education procedure and obtain a pass certificate of passing the test.
Getting an MC License is an assurance that your business meets federally mandated road traffic safety regulations, including driver instruction as well as requirements to keep your motor vehicles maintained in good repair.
DOT License
A DOT (Department of Transportation) Number is a designation issued by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to businesses that haul cargo, and passengers, or perform any job involving a truck.
Transportation providers in the U.S. are responsible for getting a DOT Number. This is used to help identify the business and control its operation. A DOT Number can also be needed to acquire approvals and clearances.
In order to obtain a DOT Number, a business is required to enroll with the FMCSA and give its business, finance background, and owners. In addition, a company must prove its coverage and payment.
UCR License
UCR (Unified Carrier Registration) is a required annual licensing program for transportation firms operating within the United States and worldwide. The UCR is required by law and companies must pay a yearly fee.
The UCR was established as Part of the National Motor Carrier Safety Program to maintain safe driving and establish the exact same set of rules for all transportation providers. A UCR License contains details of the company and its activities and helps streamline the process of handling complaints and conflict resolution.
To get a UCR License, a business needs to enroll in UCR’s program and must pay a yearly fee. This annual fee is based on a company’s size and how many cars are engaged in its activities. If a business is neither enrolled in the UCR nor has the annual fee has already been paid, the company will be penalized.
It is worth noting that a UCR license does not take the place of any other license, such as the MC License or DOT Number. Motor transportation service companies are obliged to have all required licenses or authorizations for their business operations.
SCAC License
SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) is a code unique to trucking companies for identification in the EDI system. The company owns the SCAC code which is unique to every company.
SCAC is utilized to distinguish trucking firms in EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and similar logistics and transit automatized systems. It enables businesses to handle data or documents relating to shipments quickly and effectively and improves the experience for clients.
SCAC is a mandatory procedure for carriers doing business in the United States or traveling across the country. The SCAC code was issued by the Association of American Railroads or International Air Transport Association, based on the mode of transport used for the company’s shipments.
